Yum! Brands to merge US, international business; China & India to remain separate

RBR Staff Writer Published 22 November 2013

Yum! Brands has unveiled the business reorganization plans by combining its international business with the US individual divisions for KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, effective from 1 January 2014.

China and India units will remain separate divisions, Yum! said, citing their strategic importance and growth potential.

The KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell divisions will define and drive the strategic positioning and operating models for the brands, working closely with the China and India divisions, the company said in a statement.

Yum! Brands CEO David Novak said the company believes that having 100% focused brand teams will enable them to more aggressively accelerate growth.

"We also believe know-how sharing will be more powerful by bringing the U.S. and international businesses together.

"The next logical step was to organize our division leadership and resources by Brand, as we are now doing," Novak added.

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Yum! Brands operates over 40,000 restaurants in more than 130 countries and territories.
