Whole Foods Market to open new store in Kansas City, Missouri

Published 23 April 2018

Whole Foods Market said that it will open a new 48,200ft² store in Kansas City in the US state of Missouri on 23 May 2018.

With over 100 local suppliers providing more than 1000 local products throughout the year from Missouri and Kansas, Whole Foods Market Kansas City will carry popular favorites such as Cooper’s Honey, J. Rieger Distillery spirits, and Green Dirt Farms cheese.

Whole Foods Market store team leader Roy Mahan said: “Whole Foods Market in Kansas City will offer customers convenient breakfast, lunch and dinner options, custom-cut meat, fresh seafood, organic and local produce, as well as pantry staples.

“The store will be a showcase for local Kansas and Missouri suppliers and a warm, welcoming gathering place for the community.”

Every item sold in the store meets Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards and is free of artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats.

The 48,200 square foot store includes:

The Fountain Room. The Fountain Room features 22 taps of craft beers from Missouri and Kansas brew masters at Stockyards Brewing, Crane Brewing, Boulevard Brewing, Torn Label and Cinder Bock.

Named by a community vote, this new, instore taproom also offers an exclusive cocktail menu created by legendary Kansas City distiller, J. Rieger; wine by the glass from local vineyards: Amagoni, Somerset Ridge and Fence Style; ample seating and a variety of lunch and dinner options.

Allegro Coffee Bar. Featuring nitro cold brew, sweet tea, chai and espresso drinks made to order, the Allegro Coffee Bar is the one-stop shop for a morning cup of joe or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Allegro Coffee buys and roasts only specialty Arabica beans, which represents the top 10 percent of all the beans produced in the world. From that 10 percent, Allegro only purchases the cream of the crop, so Whole Foods Market shoppers get the best quality and taste possible every day.

Busy Kansas City shoppers can take advantage of the outdoor walk-up window for fast and convenient coffee to-go.

Ceviche, Poke and Smoked Seafood Bar. Offering fresh, made in-house ceviche, poke and smoked salmon options, shoppers can create their own custom blend of this light and healthy treat for lunch or dinner.

A first for Whole Foods Market Kansas City stores, the seafood bar will feature traditional and rotating seasonal flavors.

Pre-brined Meats. Just in time for the grilling season, pre-brined chicken and pork cuts are available for Kansas City shoppers who want the delicious flavor brining brings without all the work.

Pizza and Sandwiches. Hand-stretched pizza and grab-and-go sandwiches give shoppers fast and tasty lunch and dinner options. For the morning, breakfast pizzas, and latke and egg white breakfast sandwiches help kick-start the day.

Blended Burgers. A first for Whole Foods Market in Kansas City, blended burgers add a culinary upgrade to traditional burgers- just in time for the grilling season. With flavors like Rosemary Farro, Beet Tabbouleh, and Carrot Quinoa, Kansas City shoppers have the trendiest food creations at their finger-tips.

Hot Bar and Salad Bar. A variety of freshly-prepared seasonal salads made with an array of responsibly grown organic and conventional produce await on the salad bar.

The hot bar features delicious international options such as Malaysian, Jamaican, Korean barbecue and Indian for opening week. Barbecue featuring local sausages made in-house as well as vegan barbecue; a mac and cheese bar; and a totcho bar, a twist on traditional nachos using potato tots and loaded with a variety of toppings such as cheese, jalapeños, onion or chicken, adds classic comfort foods for lunch or dinner.

Other highlights include rotisserie chickens; in-house roasted turkey breasts; premade smoothie cups (just add liquid and blend!); over 100 varieties of cheeses; 800 varieties of wine, 12 feet of spirits, and 28 feet of craft beer.

At Whole Foods Market, we take pride in supporting local farmers, producers and artisans by buying locally. Our buyers are committed to both discovering and incubating local and innovative brands in the Kansas City metro and across the company. Buying locally grown products bolsters area economies by keeping that money in the pockets of community growers.
