Subway aims for 1,000 locations by 2015

RBR Staff Writer Published 02 October 2013

American fast food restaurant franchise Subway has outlined plans to reach 1,000 locations by 2015, as part of its expansion plan across GCC, Turkey and Africa.

Currently, the company has approximately 450 outlets across Middle East and Africa, reports hoteliermiddleeast.com.

Subway Middle East & Africa regional marketing manager Hicham Ghazal was quoted by the site as saying, "We are experiencing an increase in our market share in each country.

"The brand has created a buzz and the demand for healthier eating habits has grown up. Our mission continues to offer freshly made great tasting subs and salads to consumers at a good value while providing exceptional service at convenient locations all over the world."

The flexibility of the brand has enabled it to open at non-traditional locations such as hospitals, health clubs, movie theaters and gas stations. Recently, the retailer opened its 40,000th outlet at an AppleGreen petrol station in Ipswich, England.

Since the beginning of 2013, Subway has already opened 1,761 outlets across the world.

Subway's core product is the submarine sandwich. In addition, the chain serves wraps, salad and baked goods including cookies, doughnuts and muffins.
