RBR Staff Writer Published 26 March 2013

American Smoothie King Franchises has outlined its plans to open 100 new outlets across the US as part of its master franchise and corporate expansion strategy in 2013.

Seventy of the proposed stores will be franchisee outlets while the remainder 30 will be corporate stores.

Further to its expansion strategy, Smoothie King launched a new franchise development incentive program culminating with its 40th anniversary.

Additionally, the company also plans to open 50 new international stores in Asia - 40 in South Korea and 10 in Singapore.

Smoothie King Global CEO Wan Kim noted that the chain was experiencing energized growth and was seeking new multi-unit owners to help expand its footprint.

"As a multi-unit franchisee in South Korea, I know firsthand that our concept is a solid investment opportunity.

"Our positive same-store sales increases over the past three years are a true testament to the strength of our brand. We look forward to bringing our healthy products to more communities as we expand across the globe."

Smoothie King opened its first store in 1973, and now has over 600 outlets operating in 32 states of the US as well the Caymans Islands, the Republic of Korea and Singapore.
