Smoothie King eyes expansion in US

RBR Staff Writer Published 17 May 2013

Smoothie King Franchises, a US-based smoothie chain, is eyeing to expand in New York, Washington DC and Baltimore through franchise route.

The smoothie chain currently operates seven outlets in the metro area of New York City and 25 outlets in the metro areas of Washington DC and Baltimore.

Smoothie King plans to open an additional 10 locations in each of these markets over the next two years.

Smoothie King Global CEO Wan Kim said that the company's aggressive expansion is driven by its impressive results, a strong indication of the growing demand from consumers for its high-quality smoothies, vitamins, supplements and healthy snacks.

"We are confident that our brand has great potential for further development in the New York, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore markets and we look forward to building a stronger presence in these areas," Kim added.

To drive its expansion plan, Smoothie King is offering potential franchisees 40% off the initial franchise fee for the first 40 agreements of 2013, which will amount to a savings of $10,000 for each franchisee.

So far this year over 50 existing franchisees have committed to opening additional outlets.

Smoothie King currently has more than 600 outlets in 32 states, the Caymans, Singapore and the Republic of Korea.
