RBR Staff Writer Published 12 April 2013

UK-based Italian restaurant chain Papa Tony’s is planning to expand its retail network across the country through a multimillion-pound strategy.

Papa Tony's, which is owned by Asian entrepreneur Tony Hussain, currently has two restaurants in Glasgow.

Under the plan, Papa Tony's intends to open nearly 23 new outlets over a span of five years and create 500 jobs, according to Caterer and Hotelkeeper.

The company plans to invest around £2m to open three new outlets in Glasgow by the end of 2013.

Additional outlets will be opened in Scotland and England, company said.

Hussain said that the brand will have five restaurants in Glasgow and about 20 across Scotland and south of the border over the next five years.

Apart from Papa Tony's, Hussain also owns and runs the Cafe India in Merchant City in Glasgow, and owns stakes in over 30 other restaurants across Scotland.
