RBR Staff Writer Published 12 June 2013

Kahala, a US-based franchising company, has inked a master franchise agreement with food and beverage chain Ulker Golf to launch its ice cream brand Cold Stone Creamery in Turkey.

Under the franchisee agreement, Ulker Golf will open about 15 outlets in the country over the next five years. With this launch, the Cold Stone Creamery's international market reaches to 25 countries.

Ulker Golf board chairman Orhan Ozokur noted that the company is pleased with ice cream brand's business model and it has been following Cold Stone's performance for some time now.

"We trust that this partnership with Cold Stone Creamery will be quite popular as the brand offers a unique premium ice-cream experience where consumers can create a customized flavor of their preference on the spot," added Ozokur.

Ulker Golf is said to be the largest brand in Turkey with 2.5 billion Ulker Golf products being exported across the globe. The company is planning to further increase its annual production capacity to 160 billion liters by opening its second factory, which is due to begin production in 2014.

Cold Stone Creamery currently operates 420 outlets across 25 countries including South Korea, Kuwait, the Philippines, Trinidad,
Nigeria, Egypt and Brazil.
