Denny's signs deal to open 30 new restaurants in Middle East

Published 08 January 2014

Full-service restaurant chain Denny's has signed a franchise agreement with Advance Investment, an affiliate of Food Quest Restaurant Management, to develop 30 new restaurants in nine countries in the Middle East over the coming ten years.

Under the deal, Advance Investment will have exclusive rights to open restaurants in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan.

Denny's first restaurant is scheduled to open in the UAE in 2015.

The store opening is part of the restaurant chain's strataegy to expand the brand retail footprint globally.

Denny's president and chief executive officer John Miller said that the company is making significant progress in expanding the brand internationally with the right franchise partners.

"This significant development agreement is our first major expansion in the Middle East and expands Denny's unopened international pipeline to over 60 restaurants," Miller added.

Denny's opened its first international restaurant in 1966 in Acapulco, Mexico.

Presently, it operates in 11 countries and US territories, including 100 locations in Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guam, Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico and New Zealand.
