Demandware announces next-generation store solution and charter program customers

Published 18 January 2016

Demandware, the provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, has announced the next generation of Demandware Store, the next milestone toward its vision of unified commerce.

A first-of-its-kind point-of-sale (POS) and store operations solution delivered on the Demandware Commerce Cloud, Demandware Store provides retailers with continuous innovation and seamless updates on a proven and scalable cloud platform. The company's charter program for early adopter customers enables Demandware to incorporate best practices and product guidance from some of the world's leading retail brands.

"More than a decade ago Demandware disrupted the ecommerce market with a cloud solution, breaking the mold of stale behind-the-firewall products," said Tom Ebling, chief executive officer at Demandware. "Demandware Store provides the same continuous innovation model so retailers can constantly stay ahead of consumer demands. New POS, mPOS, clientelling and back office features can be added throughout the year with seamless cloud updates -- breaking the cycle of forklift upgrades from traditional providers to add new capability."

Demandware Store combines traditional POS functionality - such as sales, returns, and exchanges - and advanced store operations functionality - such as perpetual inventory, receiving, and real-time reporting - via intuitive mobile devices. Real-time access to store and enterprise information enables associates to engage customers on the sales floor and deliver unified experiences across touchpoints.

"Stores are the linchpin in omnichannel strategies and unifying the online and instore experiences increases customer loyalty and revenue" said Eric Olafson, senior vice president of store solutions at Demandware. "Shoppers expect store associates to deliver an omnichannel experience - showrooming items in an online cart, enabling click-and-collect and facilitating an endless aisle experience within the store. Demandware Store brings the power of digital into brick-and-mortar to empower associates, connect omnichannel experiences, and increase customer satisfaction."

Demandware Store leverages the Demandware Commerce Cloud to deliver key capabilities:

Core and Mobile: Includes full POS functionality, assisted selling, endless aisle and line busting.
Resilient Failover: Isolated payment connection and resilient failover service that ensures uninterrupted checkout regardless of temporary connectivity disruptions.
Intuitive Dashboards: Easy-to-use mobile interface for KPI dashboards, back office operations and store reporting.
Continuous Innovation: Continuous and seamless functional updates to store technology without traditional cost and disruption.
Open Commerce APIs: Allows for easy customization and integration to third-party solutions without breaking the upgrade path.

"Customers expect a seamless omnichannel experience from the brands that they are loyal to," said Mike Gaumer, president at vineyard vines. "vineyard vines has been a long-time Demandware customer, and we are excited by the opportunity to expand our relationship as part of the charter program for Demandware Store. We are constantly seeking to improve our customer experience, an initiative which has been complimented by our successful partnership with Demandware."

"From function to fashion, Tumbuk2 has built a loyal following for our bags and accessories during the last 25 years, and systems like Demandware Store will help us to serve these loyal customers well into the future," said Tony Meneghetti, chief operating officer at Timbuk2. "Demandware Store will connect our customers' online experience with the store associate, enabling better clientelling and endless aisle capabilities to drive conversion and continued loyalty."
