Café Coffee Day to open 500 stores in India by 2015

RBR Staff Writer Published 28 June 2013

Cafe Coffee Day (CCD), a part of Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company, has chalked out a pan-India expansion program under which it plans to open 500 new stores by 2015.

The coffee retailer is keen to open these outlets in its three formats - cafe, lounge and square. All the proposed stores will be company-owned.

Cafe Coffee Day marketing president Ramakrishnan K was quoted by The Economic Times citing PTI as saying that the move is expected to take the chain's store count from the current 1,497 to 2,000 by 2015.

"Majority will be in the cafe format and we will also look at opening some outlets in lounge and square formats too," added Ramakrishnan.

"Also, amount of investment varies due to the format of outlets."

CCD is also looking to expand its business to about 400 cities, from the current 200. In addition, the chain is planning to introduce new coffee and non-coffee beverages.
